We collect almost nothing — by design
ZipVitals has no accounts, no logins, and no personal profiles. The only thing we measure is anonymous, cookieless traffic, so we can see which pages are useful and keep improving the site.

What we collect
Almost nothing personal. ZipVitals has no user accounts, no sign-up, and no login, so there is nothing to build a profile from. We do not ask for your name, email, or address, and we do not collect them in the background. To understand which pages people find useful, we use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Plausible). It records anonymous, aggregate information — such as a page view and the ZIP code already shown in that page’s web address — and nothing that identifies you. There are no cookies, no cross-site tracking, and no device fingerprinting. One technical detail belongs in this list too: like any website, our servers see the network address your request comes from, and we use it only to keep the site secure — described below.
How we use it
The aggregate traffic counts tell us which ZIP pages and features are being used, so we can improve the site and keep refining the quality of what we publish. That is the whole purpose. We never sell or share this information, and we never use it for advertising.
Keeping the site secure
To keep ZipVitals available and protect it from abuse, our servers briefly process the network address — the IP address — that a request to the site comes from. It is used as a counter, so that no single source can flood the site with requests and make it slow or unavailable for everyone else. That is the only thing it is used for. We never use it to identify you, to build a profile, or to follow you from page to page, and we do not keep it beyond the brief window that counter is measured over. This is a security measure, not measurement: our servers handle the address for that purpose alone, and it is never added to the anonymous traffic counts described above.
Cookies
None. ZipVitals sets no cookies and uses no local or session storage to track you. Because nothing about you is stored on your device, there is no cookie banner to click through.
Who processes data for us
We rely on a small number of independent service providers to run the site. Our hosting and infrastructure providers serve the site’s pages and operate the abuse counter described above, under standard data-processing terms. Plausible provides the cookieless, privacy-focused analytics described above — it stores no cookies and no personal data, and its analytics data is hosted in the European Union. The health information on ZipVitals comes from public federal and academic datasets, published in full on our methodology page. That data describes places — ZIP-level areas — not the people who visit this site.
How long we keep data
We keep no personal records — no account, no contact details, no history of what you looked at — so there is nothing personal to retain or delete. Our analytics holds only anonymous, aggregate counts. The network address described above is held only for the brief window the abuse counter covers, and then it expires on its own; it is never written to a lasting record.
Your choices and rights
We hold no account, profile, or contact details about you, so there is nothing to log in and access, correct, or erase. If your browser or an extension blocks analytics scripts, the site works exactly the same — the analytics is never required to read anything here.
Children
ZipVitals is a general-audience health-information site and is not directed at children. We ask no one for personal information — including children — and we build no profile of anyone who visits.
Changes to this policy
If our data practices change, we will update this page and revise the date above. Because the site is built to collect as little as possible, we expect changes to be rare.
